A New EWR: Transforming Newark Liberty Airport’s New Terminal A

Newark Liberty International Airport’s brand-new Terminal A recently opened to the public, unveiling a 1 million-square foot, state-of-the-art facility aimed at creating a first-class passenger experience and establishing a sense of place distinct to New Jersey.

Arconas was honored and excited to be part of this project, which is the largest design-build in the State’s history.

Arconas supplied Bernù Aero Poly tandem seating in custom colors with powder-coated “Blackstone” finishes, as well as Green Furniture’s Nova C wood bench seating in custom colors and unique configurations to bring the vision to life.

Custom colours were selected to reflect three distinct “regions” that make up a uniquely New Jersey experience: Coastal, Woodlands and Communities.

Custom Green Furniture workstations create functional surface areas, but the addition of Leaf Lamp Trees with lighting features that can be changed to reflect the seasons maintained the calming and whimsical aesthetic.

The use of Smarin’s Pebbles in gate hold areas provide a casual and playful feel.

Arconas’ inPower flex 3 and Green Furniture’s power modules are included on all seating, some in fun, complimentary colors, so that power is readily available for passengers on multiple platforms: USB-A, USB-C, AC and wireless charging.

Sleek Auweko waste and recycling bins with transparent side panels and custom decals are also placed throughout the terminal.

“Arconas is proud to have played a part in bringing such an innovative and immersive facility to life,” said Lynn Gordon, Vice President of Business Development for Arconas. “This bright and spacious new terminal will be a source of pride for Newark and its surrounding communities for decades to come.”
