Two Arconas team members have just returned from an immersive visit to the USM Haller Headquarters in Münsingen, Switzerland where they spent two days completing factory training on the classic Swiss modular furniture system.
The training involved being familiarized with all components of the USM modular furniture system. This system, patented in 1963, is made up of a chrome-plated brass ball joint, chrome steel tubes that connect to the ball forming a stable framework, and powder coated metal panels mounted between the tubes. The simple construction allows for infinite design possibilities. As a result of this training, Arconas personnel can further help design configurations in house, can train installers, and train clients on how the system works. It also allows us to better service existing installations.
During their time at the head office, Jason and Marty were given a tour of the impressive facility where they got to see first-hand how the production and assembly is completed on site in Münsingen. The manufacturing process sees a mix of automation and hand assembly, with a clear commitment to value that many will recognize as classic “Swissness”. While automation provides efficiency with intelligent tools and proper control systems, the human factor also remains an essential part of production to ensure quality and accuracy. Our employees were impressed at the level of organization and detail that goes into production and the professionalism of all the staff that worked with them during their stay.
Arconas is the exclusive distributor of USM Airportsystems to airports throughout the Americas. Formed in 2011, USM Airportsystems develops furnishings for all passenger handling processes in airports on the basis of the Swiss made USM Haller modular furniture system. USM Airportsystems offers airports the combination of a product that fulfills the diversified demand of the user with the vision of planners and architects. Each unit is planned individually for its specific need; however, if the space, situation or desired use changes, the modules can be disassembled and reconstructed. The limitless possibilities to extend or rebuild the elements or to change colour schemes as required, combined with the damage-resistant and zero fire-load surfaces make USM Haller a great fit for public spaces.
