By 2030, approximately 60 million passengers per year will travel through Toronto Pearson airport. In preparation for this growth, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority is undergoing a targeted, multi-project construction program to upgrade the aging Terminal 1, with completion planned for 2019.
As part of the Terminal 1 upgrade, the airport has recently installed Arconas’ innovative and elegant Place seating at Gate 139. Upholstered in Slate grey vinyl, the seats feature integrated power and USB at every seat, generous tablet arms, drink holders, under-seat storage, and plenty of personal space. Tablet arms create even more personal space between seats so passengers can eat, work, or play in comfort. The drink holders accommodate a range of cup and bottle sizes to keeps things clean and prevent spills.
When passengers have space to sit, spread out, relax, and conveniently charge their electronics, airports have seen an increase in customer satisfaction, as well as increased concessions revenues.
Also installed are Auweko Temptation FF3 waste and recycling bins as part of a larger roll out of the bins across the airport. These robust, German-made bins offer an elegant, functional stainless steel solution with a contoured design line. The particular model installed has 3 openings with graphics on the front to assist users in separating waste correctly. The Temptation series, with its patented fire-proof system offers exceptional ease of use, safety, and high durability.

Arconas has worked with GTAA for many years, supplying furniture for their hold rooms, and we are excited to continue this partnership as Pearson expands and becomes a major international travel hub.
