Our History

The name Arconas was derived from the Greek word Arconi, which means innovative leader. True to our name, Arconas strives to lead the way in quality, reliability, and innovation in airport furniture.

Our history in the manufacturing and distribution of high-performance furniture for airports and passenger terminals spans more than 50 years. Evolving from humble beginnings in 1972, to becoming a global leader in the industry, our goal is to elevate the passenger journey from the moment of arrival to final departure with our extensive suite of seating, power, waste, recycling, and modular furniture.

Our products reflect a legacy rooted in innovation and design excellence and are thoughtfully crafted to exceed the highest standards of durability, comfort, and safety while catering to the evolving needs of both travellers and terminal operators. We’re also dedicated to supporting the creation of inclusive spaces for all travellers and are constantly looking for more ways to offer furniture solutions that prioritize universal accessibility and comfort.

We are the exclusive distributor of several globally renowned furniture brands: Auweko, Green Furniture Concept, Heller Furniture, Sellex, and USM Airportsystems. These partnerships allow us to provide an even more comprehensive suite of innovative solutions to our clients.

 We also consult with specialized and professional organizations such as Open Doors Organization in the USA, and the Rick Hansen Foundation in Canada, to help us make informed recommendations to our clients on how to enhance the universal accessibility of their seating layouts in their terminals.

  We’re also a proud and active member of CLIA (Cruise Line International Association) and the Canadian Ferry Association.

We have been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed companies, a distinction for which the company has re-qualified for year over year and now hold Platinum Status. We are also ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Certified.

Sustainability Stewardship

Arconas cares about the sustainability and life cycle of our products, continuously seeking ways to improve our products and processes. We were the first manufacturer in North America to introduce the use of injection-molded, CFC-free, cold-cured foam. Our foam and metal components are 100% recyclable. Our public seating products meet the requirements of ANSI/BIFMA Emissions Standards M 7.1 2011, are low V.O.C, and do not contribute to poor indoor air quality. Our products can also contribute toward your building achieving LEED credits.
