========================
I recently announced that I will officially retire from Arconas on March 31, 2026. It was hard to make the decision to retire from a career that has been so much part of my identity, but there's just so much more to explore in this world and do, more things to challenge me and more people to meet…and for that you need time. And if there's anything my career has been is busy.
Arconas may have defined the last 25 years of my career, but the journey began much earlier.
After graduating from the University of Ottawa in the late 1980s, I worked at the National Capital Commission, where mentorship under Jean Pigott shaped my leadership values. A move to Vancouver in the early 1990s allowed me to follow a lifelong fascination with aviation, beginning with Airshow Canada and leading to an airport-focused career with Airports Council International Pacific, working alongside airport leaders across the Pacific Rim. A brief chapter in Toronto at Ernst & Young broadened my experience, but aviation ultimately brought me to Arconas. When the company expanded into the airport market, I had the opportunity to help lead that initiative, an opportunity that has since grown into a 25-year career and more than 500 airport projects, uniting my passion for aviation, design, and people.
Arconas has gone through many iterations over the past 25 years, and it hasn't been without its challenges. When we started, we were virtually unknown in an industry dominated by one major U.S. company that made a good product but invested little in innovation. Then came 9/11, which quite literally shut down the industry and delayed any projects not related to security for years. Other serious challenges came and went: SARS, H1N1, the 2008 economic crisis, and most devastating of all, COVID-19. It often felt like one challenge after another, but as an innovative company and a group of people who simply never gave up, we kept persevering.
The ownership, management, and staff of Arconas are nothing short of extraordinary. I've never met a group of people who care as deeply about the company, and about each other. Even when there are disagreements, everyone is ultimately moving in the same direction.
Arconas continues to change, evolve, grow, and adapt. It's inspiring to see so many wonderful young people coming into aviation and building their careers. I only hope I can share as much of my love for the industry with them as possible.
To Dan and Pablo, owners of Arconas, thank you. You've given me more opportunities than I can count. You encouraged me to grow, challenged me, listened to me (mostly), and most importantly, respected me. I will be eternally grateful.
And I would be remiss if I didn't end with a very special mention of Krista Tapley, our Director of Sales. Krista has been at my side for 20 years. We can finish each other's sentences. She's grown and developed her career into something extraordinary and leads our Sales Team with tremendous commitment and care. I would not have achieved as much in my role without her steadfast support and friendship.
When I started with Arconas back in 2000, the first thing I did a sign us up as a member of ACI-PAC and then ACI-NA. Since then, I've served on the ACI-NA World Business Partners Board twice, currently Immediate Past Chair, and the ACI WBP Board once. I am a proud founding member of the Canadian PAC and consider many of my airport friends "lifers," despite many of them already retired or retiring. I'll see you on the road!
My retirement will begin in March 2026 and who knows what the future will bring! But for now, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to everyone who has touched my life in so many ways in my career. You are all part of the journey and I wouldn't be here without you.
Stay in touch. Life is Good.
